Manasa Publications champions Indian literary works bridging cultures through translation and offering readers a glimpse into the richness of Indian storytelling across India. We are particularly committed to nurturing women-centric literary works and supporting emerging women writers, creating space for new voices to be discovered and heard.
Why Manasa?
In Sanskrit, Manasa means “of the mind” or “born of thought.” It is also the name of Manasa Devi — the serpent goddess of Bengali and Hindu tradition, a deity of healing, fertility, and protection. She is worshipped especially by women. Our emblem is drawn from her form.
We chose this name because we believe literature is an act of the mind and heart together — and because we wanted a name that honoured the feminine principle in Indian culture and mythology.
What We Believe
We publish literary works that are an expression of a less ego-centric, more empathetic vision of the world.
Our mission is to reclaim forgotten and suppressed voices of women, illuminating their stories across cultural, linguistic, and gendered frontiers.
At the heart of this endeavor is a focus on the aesthetic and philosophical dimensions of human life, exploring deeper truths that connect us all.
In addition to centering women’s narratives, we will also publish male writers who transcend the limitations of the male gaze, challenge conventions and enrich our collective understanding.
We are rooted in a deep appreciation for the aesthetic and philosophical dimensions of life. We seek to explore stories that resonate, challenge, and inspire. Through both fiction and non-fiction, our mission is to bring forth narratives that capture profound human experiences.
The people behind the press
Master's in English Literature. Her essays have been published in Neeli magazine. Deeply committed to Tamil and South Indian literature.
MBA background with expertise in marketing. A budding writer herself, she contributes short stories and essays to literary journals.
Writer and translator whose work has appeared in Asymptote and Narrative Magazine. Brings international literary perspective to Manasa.
Prominent literary agent based in New Delhi, representing debut and award-winning authors across genres.
